New ER protocols ease wait times in Calgary

Alberta’s new emergency room protocols have eased wait times in our city.

That’s according to Calgary’s top emergency room doctor.

Dr. Grant Innes tells the Calgary Herald the protocols haven’t had to be invoked, but the threat of it happening has made hospital staff push even harder to get patients in.

The plans were first launched four days ago.

If the measures are called up, temporary wards are set up and patients are moved anywhere there is an available bed, even if it’s in a different hospital.
