Leduc man charged with attempted murder after Christmas Eve shooting

RCMP south of Edmonton have laid charges against a 37-year-old man after he allegedly shot his ex-wife’s boyfriend on Christmas Eve.
Mounties say Jason Noel Belair was let into his ex-wife’s mobile home Friday, but he wasn’t there to spread holiday cheer.
Const. Jodi Heidinger tells 660News the suspect allegedly shot his ex-wife’s 25-year-old boyfriend three times with a restricted handgun.
She says Belair faces several charges, including attempted murder and use of a restricted firearm in a careless manner.
The victim, the woman and a baby, who police say is Belair’s child, were able to escape the home, where the shooter was later arrested.
The victim was sent to Edmonton where he underwent emergency surgery.
Belair is set to appear in court Thursday.
