Man undergoing psychiatric testing after a six-hour stand-off with police

A man is in police custody after a long standoff at an apartment building in Calgary’s northwest.
Duty Inspector Rob Williams tells 660News police responded to reports of a man with a weapon Saturday afternoon around 3:30.
“A woman called saying she fled her apartment in the 700 block of 14th Street northwest after her son threatened her with a sword or long knife.”
Officers arrived, and after close to six hours, managed to talk the man out of the residence and arrest him. A sword was found in the apartment.
Williams says the 35 year-old man is undergoing psychiatric testing before charges are officially laid.
Nobody was hurt during the ordeal.
