Food prices increasing

Your grocery bill is going to get more expensive.
World food prices rose to a new high in December, according to the United Nations.
Humphrey Banack with Wildrose Agricultural Producers says Alberta is definitely affected, but farmers aren’t rolling in the cash because of it.
“Our fuel prices are going up, just as everyone else’s is. Fertilizer is based on the price of natural gas. Our input costs are rising at the same level and as a result our net return probably won’t return change,” Banack said.
Banack says as long as commodity prices continue to rise, food production is going to keep getting more expensive.
