The mayor is prepared to wade into a touchy apartment controversy.
Naheed Nenshi is challenging a bylaw that requires people to get council’s approval to build rental suites in their homes.
He says it’s ridiculous.
This comes after aldermen gave Multiple Sclerosis sufferer Susan McGoey permission to put a secondary suite in her home.
She tells CTV she can’t maintain her property without help from a tenant because of her disability.
Nenshi says too many applications like McGoey’s are going before council, and it’s time to change the whole process.
