City Police are hoping a Crimestoppers re-enactment will help lead to tips solving two home invasions, last summer, in the northeast community of Coral Springs.
The first happened just before 10 a.m., August 19th, on Coral Shores Landing. The second took place at 5:30 p.m. later that day on Coral Shores Cape.
Originally thought to be unrelated, police now believe the same two men committed both crimes. But Staff Sergeant Brad Moore says eventually witness descriptions came together.
“Based on that, and the similiar m-o” (mode of operation) “inside the residences, on how they targetted and identified things, that’s what lead us to believe it was a targetted attack,” says Moore.
The victim of the second home invasion tells 660News she lost a quarter of million dollars worth of gold, and the culprits grabbed her daughter and knew exactly what they were looking for.
“They kept saying, where’s your mom’s jewelry, where does she keep everything,” says the woman.
The suspects also stole the victim’s 2008 Honda Civic, which was later recovered.
Police are hoping the re-enactment will spur some tips to Crimestoppers.
“We want to make sure that if you’ve got anything,” says Staff Sergeant Moore, “it may seem trivial to you. But when we hear it, we can piece things together that fall in line with everything else we’ve looked at.”
The culprits made off with a significant amount of cash and gold jewelry.
The men are described as white, about 25 years of age, and six feet tall with brown hair.
