ER crowding measures not helping waits

Most ER patients in Calgary are still waiting too long to see a doctor, because hospital staff don’t want to invoke new overcrowding measures.
A local emergency room doctor says just 35 per cent of ER patients at Calgary’s three main hospitals are getting in to see a doctor within the target time of eight hours.
Alberta Health Services put new measures into place late last month to get patients in more quickly.
But Dr. Grant Innes tells The Calgary Herald doctors and nurses at local hospitals aren’t doing enough to approach wait times from the perspective of a patient sitting in a waiting room.
