Immigrants settling in Alberta

While the number of Canadians flocking to Alberta is down, new numbers show the province was a big benefactor of international migrants through the recession.
In just the first three quarters of 2010, Alberta attracted almost 19,000 new immigrants, beating the record for 2009.
Enayat Aminzadah of Immigrant Services Calgary, isn’t surprised when it comes to the numbers saying ‘there’s a large influx of immigrants and we definitely need to ensure that we have the proper structures in place (so) that we don’t jeopardize our future population.”
Aminzadah adds, while the city and province have done a good job so far, we need to continue to make sure the necessary infrastructure is in place.
He adds immigration is not going to go away, if anything, reports show these numbers will only grow.
