University of Calgary researchers have made a breakthrough in the treatment of Multiple Sclerosis.
Two scientists with the Hotchkiss Brain Institute have found a so-called “molecular switch,” that helps immune cells attack the protective covering around nerves in MS patients.
It’s called Emmprin, and the researchers say if they can develop a medication that will stop it from working it could lead to promising new MS treatments in the next few years.
