Avalanche concerns continue

Some avalanche experts are saying the conditions in B.C. are the worst they’ve seen in the last three decades.
The B.C. interior has seen more than 35 avalanches in the last few days.
Grant Statham with Parks Canada tells 660News several weather-related factors make avalanche conditions in the mountains right now ripe for disaster.
“We’ve had a range of 100-150 centimetres of snow. The temperature has risen 20 degrees through that period with rain to high elevations and very strong winds. That really is the perfect storm, especially when you put it on top of a weak underlying snow pack that existed before hand.”
Conditions got so bad in one area north of Nelson that rescue helicopters trying to fly in were forced to turn back and try again.
