Three Albertans killed in weekend avalanches

Two Calgary brothers are among a trio of avalanche victims over the weekend.
Rob and Mark Glaser, both experienced backcountry skiers, were killed by a snow slide late Saturday in Kananaskis Country.
The two were skiing in the popular Burstall Pass area when the avalanche hit.
Others in the area were unsuccessful in their rescue attempts and quickly alerted authorities, who dispatched a helicopter.
One victim had been located, but the search was called off because of darkness and dangerous conditions.
The bodies were recovered Sunday.
A statement issued by the family says the two were both loving husbands and fathers and will be greatly missed by their families and legions of friends.
Rob Glaser, 53, lived in Bragg Creek and was a captain with the Calgary Fire Department.
Mark Glaser, 54, worked in the city’s oil and gas industry for more than 25 years.
Another Albertan who has yet to be identified was killed in a snow slide in Kokanee Glacier Park, near Nelson B.C.
Also on the weekend there was an avalanche inbounds at the Fernie B.C. ski resort.
Several members of the alpine ski team, including some from Calgary, were buried but all escaped without injury.
