Aldermen lobby for southeast transit

Four aldermen who represent southeast wards are joining forces on how they would like to see the city spend some $200-million in provincial transit improvement cash.
Ward 12 Alderman Shane Keating says instead of using the Green Trip money to buy a bunch of new LRT cars, he and his colleagues would rather see that cash go to improving bus service and buying up land ahead of the construction of the southeast leg of the LRT.
Ward 10 Alderman Andre Chabot says even though many southeast communities have Bus Rapid Transit service, it still takes too long to get in and out of the core.
Chabot tells 660News slow transit service is a big reason why people are still using their cars to get around, adding if Calgary Transit wants to improve its bottom line it has to find ways to boost ridership.
