New CREB head backs secondary suites

The Calgary Real Estate Board’s new president likes the mayor’s plan for legal secondary suites.
Board head Sano Stante says the plan is a good solution to the city’s affordable housing shortage and won’t lead to property values going down, as some critics fear.
He says that’s because making the suites legal will encourage homeowners to invest in their properties, increasing their value.
Mayor Naheed Nenshi tells The Calgary Sun he’s happy to hear about the board’s support, adding that those in doubt over secondary suites, should listen to the real estate experts.
