A protest by Sunshine Village ski patrollers put crimps into plans for skiers Wednesday.
The Herald reports the resort closed several runs but did offer discounted lift tickets after a dozen workers didn’t show up for work because they say several senior personnel have been fired for no reason.
Four workers who were let go before Christmas say they are planning a wrongful dismissal lawsuit against the ski hill.
However, Sunshine says as far as they know, the ski patrollers who didn’t show up for work were simply sick and they are hoping they will be better by Thursday.
It’s believed the dismissals stem from an alleged altercation on the ski hill in December between a patroller and a skier with connections to the resort who was found in a closed area.
