Mountain Parks under avalanche warning

A special avalanche warning is now out for much of the Mountain Parks, west of the city.
The Canadian Avalanche Centre’s bulletin covers the Rogers Pass, Banff, Jasper and Waterton Parks.
The special warning extends throughout wide areas of south and central BC.
Karl Klassen with the Canadian Avalanche Centre goes over what their recommendations are.
“Stay out of avalanche terrain, above the treeline and below the treeline, make sure that you’re nowhere near runout zones from avalanches that may start above you,” he says. “If you don’t have the training, it’s probably best to go with somebody who can recognize these areas, or stay away from the mountains.”
The warning is in effect until Monday.
