Calgary’s core needs residential development

The Mayor believes it won’t be too long before more people call the downtown area home.
Naheed Nenshi is among those welcoming word that the developer of the Bow building has dusted off plans to build a second tower as part of that massive office complex in the core.
Nenshi tells 660News Calgary has an abundance of office and retail space but the critical masse of people who call it home is in short supply.
He says some great things are happening in the East Village area and he’s confident more young urban professionals will move into the area as additional condo’s and apartments are built.
Results of recent survey’s on how people feel about that part of the city , which is east of city hall will be released this spring.
The President and CEO of the Calgary Chamber of Commerce Adam Legge, believes the heart of the city is on the move from the Bankers Hall Area to the Bow and Suncor buildings.
Legge also says more has to be done to attract people downtown, after the work day is done.
