Man faces 17 criminal charges after High River hit and run

A 26-year-old man is facing 17 criminal charges, after stealing a car in High River and driving it into a minivan Thursday evening.
Cpl. Dave Gawthrop tells 660News the man took the Honda Civic from a nearby home around 9 p.m.
“The Honda Civic had been reported stolen approximately one half hour prior [to the crash.] The suspect had broke into the owner’s home, first stealing the vehicle keys from inside, then taking the vehicle.”
He says the man and his female passenger rear-ended the minivan.
“Two of its three occupants were ejected from the vehicle, sustaining head and neck injuries. The third occupant of the minivan sustained minor injuries,” says Gawthrop.
The suspect, from the Siksika Nation then reportedly fled the scene. RCMP caught him shortly afterward.
The four injured people were taken to hospital.
The suspect faces charges including theft, impaired driving causing bodily harm and leaving the scene of an accident.
