Police use taser on man acting erratically

A man is recovering after being tasered by city police early Sunday morning.

A call came in around 5:20 about a man lying in the middle of the road in the area of 19th Street and 62nd Avenue southeast.

The man was said to be yelling and was seen kicking at a taxi that drove by.

Duty Inspector Paul Stacey tells 660News police only used the taser after they felt threatened by the man, who charged towards them once they arrived on scene.

Stacey adds police believe it was a combination of drugs and alcohol that lead to the man’s strange behavior.
