A quick-thinking citizen is being credited for catching a fire bug.
Police Duty Inspector Paul Stacey says they got a call from a man around 7:30 p.m. Monday about someone who was starting fires in dumpsters in the northwest community of Kensington.
Stacey says the man was detained until police arrived.
The fire department came to put the fires out.
Police now have a suspect in his fifties in custody.
The arson unit is investigating whether the suspect is known to have been involved in other incidents like this in the past.
Stacey says the unidentified Good Samaritan could very well be the recipient of a special award from the Chief of Police.
