Has Dave Taylor put the Alberta Party on the map?

Bringing Calgary Currie Independent MLA Dave Taylor into the fold has helped put the Alberta Party on the political map.
That’s according to Mount Royal University Political Scientist Duane Bratt, who says the relatively unknown political party should try to convince former Tory MLA Raj Sherman to join the fold as well.
“You know, I’ve looked at the platform and the ideas and the people around the Alberta Party,” Bratt tells 660News on the argument to convince Sherman to make the switch as well. “And that’s where I want to be associated. That would give them an even bigger boost than the move by Dave Taylor.”
Bratt says instead of trying to convince Liberal and NDP supporters to buy party memberships, the Alberta Party should concentrate on winning over the 45 percent of Albertans who don’t vote.
“We need to attract those 45% of Albertans who don’t vote,” says Bratt on what the party’s strategy should entail. “And if they can manage that, they’ve probably done something.”
Bratt points to the recent success of another party, on the right, as an indication that Albertans have an appetite for change.
“The spike in support for the Wildrose Alliance, in a party that really has elected one candidate and has convinced three others to join them, and is running neck-and-neck in the polls with the Conservatives,” says Bratt, is an indication that the Alberta Party might have a future.
