Oilsands emissions continue to rise

Greenhouse gas emissions from the oilsands keep going up, despite industry efficiency gains.
A new study finds emissions per barrel are dropping, but the overall level of greenhouse gas getting spewed into the atmosphere from oilsands mining has risen 45 per cent in the last five years.
London-based Evaluate Energy says the industry has worked hard to boost its efficiency, with emissions per barrel down by 15 per cent since 2008.
The energy intelligence outfit expects overall oilsands emissions to keep going up for the foreseeable future.
