Police search for suspects after S.E. home invasion

The hunt is on for two suspects after a gun was fired during a home invasion early Sunday morning.
Two men forced their way into a basement apartment in the 1500 block of 35th St., S.E.
Once inside, they demanded valuables and one of them fired a weapon, but luckily no one was hurt.
The crooks left the home and fled in a silver car with a waiting driver.
Police say one of the men has darker skin and is about 5’7″ with a slim build and was wearing a hoodie with a bandana over his face.
The other suspect is about 6 feet tall with a slim build and was wearing dark clothing.
Police do not believe this was a random attack.
This is the second violent home invasion in as many days, but Police Chief Rick Hanson says most people have nothing to worry about because these crimes often involve drugs and gangs.
“We expect that this is part of how payback occurs when there is any kind of confrontation , or any kind of issue that comes up. In that environment, with the drugs and the gangs, we’re going to keep the pressure up, we’re going to keep investigating and we’re going to put people in jail,” he says.
Yesterday a group of masked men broke into a home in the N.W. and restrained the family inside.
