Calgary man ordered to stand trial in torture case

Dustin Paxton has been ordered to stand trial.

In his preliminary hearing, an Alberta judge ordered the accused sexual torturer to face 11 of 13 charges.

Among some of the charges Paxton will face include aggravated assault, sexual assault and unlawful confinement.

The Calgary man was arrested last spring after his then 27-year-old roommate was left at a Regina hospital starved with severe cuts and burns.

It’s one of four incidents involving separate victims believed to have occurred between 2008 and 2010.

660News can’t identify the roommate due to a publication ban, but police say he was left mutilated and brain damaged as a result of the attack.

A trial date will be set on April 1st. The Crown attorney expects the case to last at least a month and a half.
