Education Minister doesn’t want premier’s chair

Alberta Education Minister Dave Hancock says he does not intend to run for Premier Ed Stelmach’s job.

Hancock ran for the leadership in 2006 and was fifth out of eight candidates after the first ballot.  His name was dropped from the second ballot.

Hancock says he wasn’t at the front of the pack that time and he has no reason to believe he would be this time.

He also says he thinks the work he’s doing in the education portfolio is important and he doesn’t want to leave until he has to.
