Ted Morton dislikes Stelmach’s late resignation

The only man to declare his intention to replace Ed Stelmach isn’t happy with the premier’s decision to stay on until September.

Leadership candidate and former finance minister Ted Morton says that wouldn’t have been his decision and it will negatively impact government.

Morton tells The Calgary Sun it would have been better for the Tories to use the summer to prepare for another budget and legislative session.

Some political watchers say Stelmach’s delay will give more time to other leadership candidates to shore up support.

Morton is the only Tory to jump in the race so far, although other Tories are said to be considering a run.
