The Fluoride debate is over

Calgary City Council has voted to remove fluoride from the city’s drinking water.
The final vote was 10 to 3, with only Aldermen Lowe, Pootmans and MacLeod voting against the motion.
Earlier in the day, council voted against holding yet another plebiscite on the matter or sending it to an expert panel for more discussion.
Part to the motion passed today discussed exploring options for getting dental care to children of lower income families.
One option discussed was using the $750,000 a year saved by eliminating the flow of fluoride into the water system to finance programs encouraging prevention of tooth decay in children at risk.
The City will now take its decision to the Province who must rubber-stamp it before the additive can officially be removed.
