Pressure mounts for more disclosure on aldermanic spending

There’s a renewed call for transparency at city hall.
Officials are calling on the city to lay out more details on individual records, so the public knows just how much their elected officials are spending.
Recently released figures show aldermen spent just under $1.76-million in their wards last year, but there aren’t many details on where the money went.
Councillors only report spending for courses and seminars, travel, business, communications, research and office support.
The alderman who spent the most money is Andre Chabot, who tells The Calgary Herald he has no problem disclosing more details on where he spent over $139,000.
