Avalanche traps two skiers in Yoho National Park

Two skiers were lucky to escape with minor injuries after an avalanche on Saturday in Yoho National Park.

A size 3.5 avalanche partially buried the pair on the Emerald Lake slide path.

The two reached a safe zone with the help of others in the area who gave first aid and sent for assistance.

Help also arrived from Banff and Lake Louise by helicopter.

The avalanche danger rating for the Banff, Yoho and Kootenay National Parks region is listed as high at the alpine and tree line areas.
