Fire damages restaurant kitchen

A Monday afternoon fire interrupted a late lunch for patrons of a southwest restaurant.

Crews were called to The Petite Restaurant at 10th Avenue and 13th Street southwest around two this afternoon.

When they arrived, about a dozen staff and patrons were outside and smoke could be seen billowing from the two storey building so they called a second alarm.

The fire was knocked down quickly and as Spokesperson Brian McAsey tells 660News it started in the kitchen but they aren’t sure what started it.

Damage is estimated at $25,000.
