A 25-year-old man has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of a woman on the Morley Reserve.
Butch Chiniquay was arrested earlier this month, after his common law girlfriend, Charmaine Wesley, was found dead in their home in January.
Cpl. Gary Fedrau with the Cochrane RCMP tells 660News they had to wait for the medical examiner’s report before they could collar a suspect.
“Once those results were in from the medical examiner’s office, it was determined to be a suspicious death and that foul play was at fault,” he says.
Police aren’t releasing the cause of death.
Fedrau adds Chiniquay is known to police and will appear in court on February 18th.
