Drugged driver lawyers present sentencing arguments

The crown prosecutor is describing a man on a crime spree that killed a city woman in a December 2009 crash in the northwest as a ticking time bomb for the citizens of Calgary.

The crown wants a 14-year sentence for 27-year-old Christopher James Rae.

Rae was high on drugs and had just committed two jewellery store robberies when he rammed a stolen pickup into another vehicle at 20th Avenue and 10th Street N.W., killing Malgorzata Pulwicki.

The defence says the sentence should be no more than nine years.

The judge in the case is set to rule April 14th.
