River barrier may soon be built

A giant underground clay wall might soon be built along the edge of Old Refinery Park and Beaver Dam Flats Park near the community of Lynnview Ridge in Calgary’s southeast.
The wall would be one metre thick and six metres in height.
The hope is the barrier will work with a water treatment system to stop chemicals from an old Imperial Oil refinery from getting into the Bow River.
According to The Calgary Herald, if the wall is approved it will cost $3-million.
The proposal comes a decade after homeowners in the area were offered buy-out packages because of high levels of lead in the soil.
