Man granted bail in decade old murder case

A man charged in the death of a woman in northeast Calgary ten years ago has been granted bail.

Barry David Brown was charged with second degree murder late last year in the cold case dating back to April 2001.

37 year-old Corinne Belanger was shot and killed in her Temple home.

The 50 year-old accused, who was a friend of Belanger’s estranged husband at the time of the killing, has been released on bail with several conditions attached.

The victim’s mother, Lily, tells the Herald she wasn’t surprised with the ruling saying she was prepared for Brown to get bail.
