Calgary Iranians protest at city hall

A handful of Iranian Canadians headed to city hall Sunday afternoon to protest the turmoil in their home country.

They are frustrated with the violence in the middle east and are calling for President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to step down.

One man tells 660News they are calling for freedom.

“We hope Iran gets free and we have democracy in Iran like here in Canada.  The people all over the world should have democracy not a dictator anymore.”

He says they are showing solidarity with the people uprising in Iran.

Iran’s opposition had called for a rally today in Tehran to mark a week since the deaths of two people in February 14th clashes between security forces and opposition protesters.
