Fatal ski accident at Lake Louise

A 21-year-old man from Toronto is dead after he crashed into trees while skiing at Lake Louise.

He was wearing a helmet, goggles, skiing within his abilities and within bounds with friends.

RCMP Corporal Jeff Campbell tells 660News, the male was coming off a backside black diamond run around 9:30 Sunday, when he skied over the edge and landed in a treed area.

Lake Louise Ski Patrol arrived within minutes and it was quickly determined the man’s condition was critical.

He later died at the scene due to his injuries. The cause of the accident is still under investigation by Lake Louise RCMP and the resort.

The skier’s name is being withheld until police notify his family.
