The Calgary Chamber of Commerce says it supports Tuesday’s throne speech, in particular the emphasis on improving competitiveness and enhancing links with Asia.
The Chamber’s Ben Brunnen says improving west coast corridors and ports to expand road, rail and pipeline capacity is a visionary diversification strategy.
He says they also look forward to strong action to improve Alberta’s fiscal position in the upcoming provincial budget.
Brunnen tells 660News, this is an opportune time for the province to demonstrate fiscal leadership for the long term and suggests a simple three step approach to government fiscal management, balancing the budget, replenishing and capping the sustainability fund and saving to replace resource revenues permanently.
He says the chamber is also pleased with the government’s intention to move forward with changes to the oil and gas regulatory system and maintaining the strong environmental performance that Albertans have come to expect.
