Lethbridge officer injured

A Lethbridge police officer who suffered serious injuries in an attack earlier this week is out of hospital and recovering at home.
31-year-old Constable Nathan Smith was beaten by two men after attempting to make an arrest early Wednesday morning.
He had broken bones and bleeding in the brain, but was released from a Calgary hospital Thursday.
Lethbridge Police chief Tom McKenzie is commending a father and son who stopped to help the Constable as well as a taxi driver who pointed officers in the direction of one of the suspects.
McKenzie says it’s reassuring to know his officers can count on citizens to help out in difficult situations.
Two Calgary men have been charged in the attack.
