Drug shortage hits Alberta pharmacies

Albertans could be waiting longer than they want the next time they need a prescription filled.

There’s a drug shortage hitting Alberta pharmacies.

In fact, it’s having an impact right across the country, as drug makers have trouble keeping up with demand.

One pharmacist tells the Calgary Sun, he’s had to resort to offering liquids instead of pills, and that means recalculating the dosage.

It’s also costing the government, because it covers the added expense of brand name drugs if generics are not available.
