Fingerprint scanners to speed up background checks

Criminal background checks will take less time, thanks to new fingerprint scanners coming to Calgary this week.
The scanners will allow background checks to be finished in days rather than the months such checks currently take.
The quicker returns will be a blessing for groups that need volunteers to have a criminal background check performed, like sports associations and employers working with children.
The Calgary Herald reports city police perform 133,000 checks a year.
