ER wait time targets being missed

Hospitals aren’t as fast at getting patients through emergency rooms as provincial health bosses would like.

A new report shows Alberta Health Services isn’t meeting its targets for improvements to wait times.

The health body wanted to ensure that by March 1st, 70 per cent of ER patients with less serious conditions were getting discharged within four hours.

In Calgary, only the Alberta Children’s Hospital is currently meeting that goal.

The Peter Lougheed Hospital is getting patients discharged within four hours 62 per cent of the time, while the Foothills and Rockyview hospitals come in lower than that.
