Apple unveils the iPad 2

It’s finally here. Apple has released the iPad 2.
Version two is twice as fast as the first model and has two cameras, one for taking pictures and the other for video chatting.
City TV’s gadget guy Mike Yawney tells 660News says the iPad isn’t the only tablet launching into the market.
“The big rumour with the PlayBook, which is Research in Motion’s tablet is the fact that it might actually be able to run Android apps, and that is huge because a lot of developers are complaining right now, that it takes so much work and so much effort and time to develop apps for the PlayBook, that it’s just not worth their time,” he says.
Yawney adds, if the rumour is true, it could help RIM get a foothold in the tablet industry.
“If you have a Blackberry, you probably realize Blackberry app world – eh. It’s okay. It’s not great, it doesn’t compete with iTunes, it doesn’t compete with Google’s android marketplace, so I think that if this rumour is correct and that the PlayBook will be able to play android apps, I think that’s a huge win for Research in Motion,” he says.
Apple CEO Steve Jobs was on hand in San Fransisco to launch the iPad 2, which he says is thinner than the iPhone 4.
It’s also lighter than the original and comes in two colours, white and black.
The device will be available March 25th.
