At least 40 people killed in India after two vehicles fall into gorges

Police say two vehicles have fallen into gorges in India’s mountainous north, killing at least 40 people.

A Police officer says a truck carrying a wedding party flipped over on a curve in the road and rolled into a gorge in Himachal Pradesh’s Chamba district on Wednesday night.

The officer says rescuers have found 33 bodies.

He says another seven people were killed in a similar accident in the area, also on Wednesday night.

Police were investigating the causes of the crashes.
