High risk offender released from prison

City police are warning the public about a dangerous offender that’s been released after serving more than four and a half years in a federal prison for sexual assault causing bodily harm.

Derek Ross Calf-Child is said to be in the Calgary area and is currently being monitored by the city’s High Risk Offender Program.

Police say he will be monitored for the next two years and has nearly two dozen conditions attached to his release.  They also say an assessment done on Calf-Child has revealed he is a high risk to reoffend.

The 43-year-old has a history of assaulting both female children and adults that dates back to 1983.
