Eight people flee Castleridge basement fire

Eight people managed to escape a blaze Tuesday morning, despite having no working smoke alarms in their home.
It happened on Castlegreen Close in the northeast just before 1:00 a.m.
The fire was contained to a kitchen in the basement.
There was one smoke detector on the main floor, but it wasn’t working and there were no alarms in the basement.
Nobody was hurt and there’s no word yet on the cause of the fire.
