Alberta oilsands ad money facing cut

The province’s oilsands advertising war could be in for a big setback due to budget cuts.

As much as 36 per cent of the money currently set aside for campaigns that promote Alberta oil could disappear.

That would cut the amount of money available for the oilsands billboard battle with environmental groups to around $5-million.

That’s down from almost $7-million the province originally budgeted.

A spokesperson for the premier tells The Calgary Herald the public relations fight is going to get harder, so the province will have to do more with less cash.
