Doctor testifies Louie insane during child killings

A court appointed psychiatrist has testified a Calgary dad was legally insane when he killed his two children.
The doctor took the stand at the murder trial of James Louie, saying the father was in a state of automatism when he took the lives of 13-year-old Jason and 9-year-old Jane, and was not criminally responsible.
She diagnosed Louie as suffering from a major depression at the time of the slayings in November, 2009.
Her testimony is the key plank of the defence case.
The Crown is arguing that Louie was sane during the killings and the attack on his estranged wife, saying he planned the horrific events.
