Alberta government orders health review

The Alberta Tories are ordering an arms-length review into accusations of sub-standard care in the province.

But Premier Ed Stelmach says the health quality council will not chase what he calls baseless allegations made by Independent MLA Raj Sherman that 250 cancer patients died on waiting lists.

But he says anyone who has information backing up those claims, needs to bring it to light.

“So if somebody brings forward evidence credible that the Health Quality Council interprets as credible, go ahead bring it forward.”

Stelmach says any witnesses will have immunity from being punished by authorities for the comments they make.
