Trial for murdered elderly man has begun

The trial of a husband and wife accused of killing an elderly man for his truck started in a Calgary courtroom on Friday.

Tosha and Jason Hubler are charged with the first degree murder of 78-year-old Ray Johnson.

Police found Johnson’s blood at the Hubler’s home and found out the couple had the senior’s credit cards, after he answered an online classified ad.

The jury heard how in the days leading up to the murder, Jason had boasted about how he would soon have a new vehicle.

Five days after Johnson’s body was found, the Hublers were arrested near Banff heading west inside Johnson’s truck.
