Going green creates jobs

A new report from an environmental think tank says the best way to stimulate economic activity and put people to work is by addressing climate change issues.
The Pembina Institute’s ” Reducing pollution , creating jobs ” report shows investing public dollars in renewable energy and energy efficiency generates more jobs than public spending on oil and gas extraction.
The Pembina’s Acting Director of Climate Change tells 660News the federal government could have created nearly three times as many jobs by dedicating 100 per cent of the $16 Billion it invested in infrastructure in it’s economic stimulus package to clean energy.
Ottawa only directed 8 per cent of that cash to so called green initiatives.
Clare Demerse hopes the upcoming federal budget contains some solid plans to address the various climate change issues out there.
She also says the sooner Canada gets busy developing green technology the greater the chance we have to export those products , instead of importing them.
