A lake develops on major city road

There’s a new lake in South Calgary and it’s affecting traffic on northbound Deerfoot at Highway 22 X. As a result, traffic in the area has been reduced to one lane.
Carmacks crews were first alerted to the problem yesterday around noon.
(We’re) “trying to pump it and figure out where we can put the water,” a Carmack’s spokesman tells 660News. “We don’t know why the water is not going where it should be going. But due to the construction down in that area, the grades are different from last year and that’s why I think we’re having the issue this year down there. I know there’s a catch-basin there somewhere that could be plugged up with ice or anything. We’re trying to figure it out. We’ve got a couple of different solutions about why it’s happened, but hopefully we’ll get it figured out here right away.”
Until the water has been properly drained, drivers on northbound Deerfoot at 22 X should be prepared for lane restrictions in the area.
Carmacks hopes to fix the pooling problem by Wednesday night.
